Role
Instacart is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join the Financial Data Analytics team, the connective tissue between Finance, Accounting, and Engineering. This role will architect and deliver data models, pipelines, and reporting infrastructure that empower Finance and Accounting with trusted insights at scale, while advancing large-scale systems initiatives, accelerating the month-end close, and optimizing cloud spend in the AWS environment.
Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements into scalable data models.
- Own data initiatives end-to-end, from ambiguous ideas to high-impact projects.
- Design and automate dashboards, models, and reporting systems.
- Build and maintain data products underpinning Revenue Accounting, including embedding revenue recognition logic into financial data models.
- Apply compliance-first design principles to support SOX, audit readiness, and data governance standards.
- Implement validation, monitoring, and reconciliation frameworks to maintain data integrity.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and system enhancement.
- Leverage AI technologies (e.g., Claude, Cursor, Python ML libraries, Copilot) to reimagine financial data modeling and delivery.
Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience; 5+ years (7+ preferred) in data analytics or analytics engineering; strong SQL and cloud data fundamentals with hands-on experience in Snowflake, dbt, and BI tools (Mode, Looker, Tableau, etc.); experience building complex data pipelines with emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and traceability; familiarity with financial data structures, accounting processes, and enterprise systems (e.g., Oracle, Workday, Salesforce, Adaptive); strong communication skills.
Preferred: Public company experience with SOX compliance; high-growth technology environment background; experience implementing large-scale financial or operational systems; project management experience; cloud cost management in an AWS environment; familiarity with AI/ML applications in data analytics (e.g., natural language SQL tools, forecasting models, anomaly detection frameworks).
Compensation
Base pay ranges by permanent work location: CA, NY, CT, NJ: $157,000—$165,500; WA: $150,000—$158,500; OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI: $144,000—$152,000; All other states: $131,000—$138,000. Eligible for a new hire equity grant as well as annual refresh grants.
