AssemblyAI builds best-in-class Voice AI models powering voice applications, serving 600M+ inference calls monthly and processing 1M+ hours of audio daily. The company is a lean, capital-efficient AI team with under 100 people and thousands of customers including Granola, Fireflies, Figure AI, and CallRail.
We're looking for a Senior Design Engineer to own the craft and feel of AssemblyAI's product experience end to end. This person will design and build interfaces for developers, from the Playground to the dashboard, and hold the bar on how everything looks, moves, and feels.
What You'll Do
- Own visual and interaction design of core product surfaces, then build them in production React and TypeScript
- Set the bar for UX quality across the product
- Turn rough product ideas into polished, high-fidelity experiences
- Shape and steward the design system and visual language
- Partner with engineering and marketing on direction
- Use AI tooling and agents as a core part of work
What You'll Need
- Strong portfolio of shipped product work
- Genuine UX and visual design ability
- Deep proficiency in Figma
- Solid frontend engineering skills with React and TypeScript
- Fluency with AI-assisted design and development
- Comfort operating with ambiguity
Nice to have: motion design, illustration, experience with developer platforms.
Salary range: $180,000 - $240,000 (US).
