About Affirm

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. We help people pay over time for almost anything—with no late fees or surprises. Through advanced technology and analytics that look beyond FICO, we’re able to serve a much broader population than other lenders.

About the Role

We are looking for a self-motivated and resourceful Bank Controller to join us during a pivotal moment of growth. As Affirm Bank is currently in its formation phase, we are actively building out our foundational team. The Bank Controller will lead day to day operational duties of the Affirm Bank Accounting Team, including managing the G/L and daily operational flows, ensuring successful integration of our accounting systems and processes into Affirm’s systems and processes, and developing the regulatory function.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Talent Development: Build and lead the Bank accounting team, providing strategic direction, recruitment, and coaching.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Serve as a primary liaison with Affirm, Inc. cross-functional teams, ensuring effective service delivery under the Intercompany Program Agreement while maintaining independent oversight for a regulated banking entity.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee all monthly reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, ensuring timely completion and submission.
  • Regulatory Oversight: Build a controlled regulatory reporting function to ensure timely and accurate preparation of required filings (e.g., FFIEC 041 Call Reports, Part 363 Annual Reports, and Federal Reserve reporting).
  • Audit Management: Work closely with external auditors to coordinate the completion of the annual Bank financial statement audit.
  • Process Automation: Work with engineering and product teams to evaluate, improve, and implement tools to drive accounting/reporting automation.
  • Strategic Analysis: Manage other processes and functions, including financial analysis and projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Accounting designation such as CPA or CA
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience in Accounting, Finance or Treasury-related areas
  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience
  • Experience building out tools and processes, and scaling an Accounting team in a similar industry
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP and Regulatory reporting
  • Proven analysis, cash management, and modeling experience
  • Extremely detail oriented and a natural critical thinker
  • Strategic, goal driven, focused, with a “can-do” attitude
