Senior Product Designer, Design Systems

Discord is seeking a Senior Product Designer to join the Design Systems team, stewarding Mana, our design system, to ensure design quality across UI, content, and graphics. You will own day-to-day maintenance, evolve components, and help shape the system's future, including exploring AI applications.

• Maintain and evolve Mana's foundational tokens, components, and patterns, including triaging bugs, shipping updates, and migrating legacy elements.
• Build and refine components in Figma with deep care for structure, variants, properties, and variables, matching how they are implemented in code.
• Own prioritization of maintenance and evolution work, and help shape contributions and governance.
• Explore how AI, including skills and agents, can make Mana easier to use, maintain, and scale.
• Support product teams with empathy and clear reasoning, providing excellent support in help channels and explaining system vs. personal preference.
• Extend Mana's visual language to new components and surfaces in close collaboration with engineering.
• Educate and evangelize the system through documentation, tutorials, mocks, and prototypes, informed by user research and data.

• 5+ years of experience in UX or product design, including 2+ years working on design systems.
• Mastery of Figma component building, including variants, component properties, auto layout, variables, and library management.
• Working knowledge of front-end code and how components are built in code, plus experience with GitHub and Markdown.
• Hands-on experience using AI in a design systems context, such as building or using skills, agents, or AI-assisted workflows.
• Strong visual judgment and craft within an established style, including motion, across multiple platforms (Web, Desktop, iOS, Android).
• Experience with inclusive design and accessibility standards (WCAG).
• Diplomatic, empathetic, low-ego communication, with clear technical documentation skills.

• Experience planning and leading migrations or deprecations of legacy components across a large product.
• Experience working in a design system co-owned by design and engineering.

Base salary range: $188,000—$235,000 USD. This position is also eligible for equity and benefits.
