Senior Software Engineer

Lyft is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Rider organization, which focuses on building a seamless, best-in-class rideshare experience for riders. In this role, you will work with teams across Lyft to improve riders' experience with rideshare.

• Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
• Participate in the team's on-call rotation; identify, triage, debug, and resolve issues across applications and platforms
• Explain trade-offs in decisions, manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
• Partner with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to build complex features from idea to execution
• Analyze internal systems and processes to find areas for improvement/automation
• Share knowledge through brown bags and tech talks; provide technical mentorship to junior engineers
• Help establish roadmap and architecture based on technology and needs

• BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of software engineering industry experience
• Solid knowledge of distributed systems, relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience designing, debugging, and running fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systems
• Experience with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure)
• Experience with Kubernetes and container technologies (e.g., Docker, cri-o)
• Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team

This is a hybrid role, with at least 3 days per week in the office, including Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.

The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is CAD $136,000 - CAD $170,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus, or benefits.
