About the job

Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform that enables organizations to harness IoT data for actionable insights. We help improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability of physical operations across industries like agriculture, construction, transportation, and manufacturing.

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer II to join our Operational Excellence (OPX) team within the Developer Experience (DevEx) organization. DevEx is responsible for the engineering environment used by our globally distributed engineering org, including build/deploy systems, development tooling, and AI-assisted workflows. OPX keeps production healthy at scale, providing platform capabilities, observability tooling, automated safeguards, incident management, and safe feature release systems.

In this role, you will design and build automated reliability and self-healing systems, own incident management tooling, develop observability infrastructure, contribute to AI-driven operational tooling, and partner with product engineering teams to improve reliability.

Minimum requirements: 8+ years of software engineering experience, 3+ years on infrastructure/platform teams, expertise in observability and reliability, experience with Datadog or equivalent, large-scale enterprise software, DevEx and internal portals, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), AI-driven automation, and high-quality code in Go or Python. Ideal candidates have experience with incident management tools (Incident.io, PagerDuty) and Terraform.

Compensation: Annual base salary $154,700—$260,000 USD, plus equity (RSUs) and performance-based bonus. Benefits include health insurance, parental leave, professional development stipend, and flexible remote model.

This is a remote position open to candidates in the Eastern Time zone in the US and Canada. Relocation assistance not provided. Final interview is a full-day onsite at our SF office.
