Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure Security

Asana is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its new Security Development team. This team builds durable, secure-by-default solutions to protect Asana's infrastructure and product, creating guardrails that empower engineering teams to move quickly and safely. The role is based in Asana's San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule (in-office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday; work-from-home Wednesday; Friday depends on team).

• Design, build, and maintain secure-by-default frameworks, libraries, and platforms to eliminate entire classes of vulnerabilities.
• Engineer and improve core security services, including access control frameworks, secrets management infrastructure, and AWS permissions systems.
• Develop and own the platform for vulnerability remediation, creating tooling for engineering teams.
• Partner with product and infrastructure teams to implement foundational security controls, including cloud networking and compute infrastructure.
• Influence engineering initiatives through design reviews and security principles.

• 4+ years of full-time professional software development experience with large codebases.
• Proven experience building platforms, libraries, or core infrastructure.
• Strong interest or direct experience in security engineering, focusing on preventative controls.
• Expertise in programming and computer science fundamentals.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and services, particularly AWS.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset for eliminating systemic risks.
• Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies.

Estimated base salary range: $202,000-$230,000. Actual base salary varies based on market and individual qualifications. Additional compensation may include equity and benefits.
