Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems across Stripe’s engineering teams using Java, Ruby, Scala, and Go.
  • Build software infrastructure, including developing, testing, and deploying it.
  • Design and develop software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes.
  • Engineer payments integration with various financial partners.
  • Design APIs and underlying data models to support complex financial abstractions and multi-party integrations.
  • Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures.
  • Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design.
  • Work with engineers across the company to build new features at large-scale.
  • Build new systems to securely store sensitive data; improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
  • Integrate observability tools and alerting mechanisms (Datadog, Prometheus) into high-traffic production systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers, lead technical design reviews, and establish best practices.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, plus 2 years of software development experience.
  • 2 years of experience with Java, Scala, Python, and AWS.
  • 2 years of experience implementing industry standard design patterns.
  • 2 years of software engineering experience building full-stack web applications at scale.
  • 2 years of experience with database management.
  • 2 years of experience using SQL and related query languages for data analysis.

Compensation

Salary: $156,800 – $235,200/yr. This salary range represents the base salary range for the role; any sales commissions/bonuses would be in addition.
