Staff Backend Engineer, Host Pricing & Availability

Airbnb is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join the Host Pricing & Availability team. This team builds the platform and tools that empower hosts to manage their business effectively, including market intelligence, comparable listing data, demand signals, and calendar management tools. As a Staff Engineer, you will drive the technical strategy and delivery of Airbnb's pricing product roadmap, collaborating with Product, Design, and Data Science to architect scalable solutions.

• Architect and lead the technical strategy for pricing and availability backend systems, ensuring APIs, services, and data pipelines are robust and evolve with business needs.
• Lead the development and optimization of Airbnb's core pricing and availability products.
• Collaborate with product engineers and cross-functional partners to develop new host pricing functionality and calendar management tools.
• Contribute to long-term backend system architecture within the Host Pricing organization.
• Champion engineering excellence by establishing architectural standards and mentoring senior engineers.

• 9+ years of engineering experience with a BS/MS or PhD in CS or similar.
• Proven track record of leading teams, setting technical strategy, and launching high-impact product features.
• Expertise with backend systems in large-scale service-oriented architectures.
• Experience influencing cross-functional partners and engineering teams.
• Good judgment in making tradeoffs to balance short-term business needs with long-term technical quality.
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Strong problem-solving and production debugging abilities.

Base pay range: $212,000—$265,000 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager. You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity; see the up-to-date list of excluded states.
