About the job

Databricks is the Data + AI company. The AI Research organization is pushing the frontier of next-generation enterprise AI. The Data Agent team within AI Research is dedicated to pioneering frontier enterprise data agents, focusing on autonomous planning, code generation, and multi-step workflow execution in enterprise settings. The team's pillars include post-training enhancements, harness design, agentic reinforcement learning (RL), and specialized RL environments.

As a member of this team, you will bridge cutting-edge AI research and product development by shipping direct improvements to Genie, Databricks' agent product. Responsibilities include developing post-training recipes for enterprise data agents, partnering with product teams to turn prototypes into agentic experiences, building systems for agent context discovery (tables, notebooks, code, cell outputs), and raising the technical bar through design, execution, debugging, and mentorship.

Qualifications: BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field; 2+ years of applied research experience with a track record of shipping research prototypes to production; experience in LLMs, agents, reinforcement learning, and post-training workflows; ability to work in a fast-moving environment; clear communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Pay Range: $190,000—$270,000 USD. Total compensation may include annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
