Staff Software Engineer

Issue Workflow is Sentry's primary product surface. The issue platform processes billions of events daily, turning them into actionable insights for millions of developers. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Issue Workflow team, you will architect systems at the intersection of high-scale distributed systems and product engineering, building real-time data pipelines, search backends, and analysis systems. You will be the technical leader shaping how Sentry groups issues, makes search lightning-fast, enables sophisticated agentic workflows, and ensures performance at billions-of-events scale.

• Drive technical strategy and roadmap, partnering with engineering leadership, product, and design to shape the multi-quarter technical vision for the Issue Workflow platform.
• Make strategic calls about architectural direction, technology choices, and technical debt.
• Solve complex performance and scalability challenges.
• Champion product quality and user experience, understanding that milliseconds matter in developer experience.
• Mentor and elevate others, helping engineers grow their skills.

• 10+ years in full-stack software engineering, ideally with Python and TypeScript.
• Expertise in domain modeling, distributed systems, data stores, and message queues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Kafka is preferred.

Salary range: $240,000 – $400,000 USD per year, plus equity and up to 20% bonus.
