Engineering Manager, Service Platform

Instacart is transforming the grocery industry. As Engineering Manager for the Service Platform team, you will lead the group responsible for core deployment and release engineering systems, including canary infrastructure and end-to-end deployment tooling. This platform is foundational to the reliability of every service at Instacart.

• Lead a product-focused engineering team with a strong interest in developer experience and internal tools.
• Set vision, drive execution, and ensure world-class tools for deploying, validating, and monitoring services.
• Partner with product, infrastructure, and service teams to evolve the platform.
• Manage cross-cutting stakeholder relationships and prioritize customer needs.
• Navigate ambiguous technical problem spaces and understand deployment infrastructure end to end.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of experience leading and managing people, with deep detail in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• 7+ years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
• Proven track record of launching and shipping high-impact products; bonus for internal developer-facing products.
• Strong proficiency in maintaining high standards for production services.
• Preferred: strong communication, ability to navigate ambiguity, experience building platforms and high-scale infrastructure.

Base pay range for Canadian candidates: CAN$196,000—$207,000 USD. Eligible for new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
