Engineering Manager, Service Platform

As the Engineering Manager for the Service Platform team, you will lead the group responsible for Instacart's core deployment and release engineering systems, including canary infrastructure and end-to-end deployment tooling. This platform is foundational to the reliability of every service at Instacart. You will partner with product, infrastructure, and service teams to define and evolve a platform that enables fast iteration without compromising reliability.

• Lead the Service Platform team in building intuitive, scalable, and highly resilient systems.
• Set vision, drive execution, and ensure world-class tools for deploying, validating, and monitoring services.
• Lead critical reliability systems like Temporal, Canary, and Deployments.
• Manage cross-cutting stakeholder relationships and prioritize customer needs.
• Navigate ambiguous, technical problem spaces and understand deployment infrastructure end to end.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of experience leading and managing people, with deep involvement in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• 7+ years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• Proven track record of launching and shipping high-impact products; bonus for internal developer-facing products.
• Strong proficiency in maintaining high standards for production services.

• Skilled at navigating ambiguity and involving the right stakeholders.
• Experience building and shipping products to users.
• Expertise building platforms and high-scale infrastructure.

This role is remote and eligible for US-based candidates. Base pay ranges vary by location: CA, NY, CT, NJ: $230,000—$242,500; WA: $220,000—$232,000; OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI: $211,000—$222,500; all other states: $192,000—$202,500. Additionally, this role is eligible for a new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
