About the Role
We're looking for a senior People Business Partner to support our Customer Experience (CX) organization. This role reports into Gusto's Head of People and serves as an embedded, execution-oriented partner to the CX Leadership Team. You'll spend most of your time working directly with CX Senior Leaders on org design, workforce strategy, and talent conversations, while directly empowering 2 People Partners who deliver day-to-day coaching and program execution.
Responsibilities
- Build trusted partnerships with the CX Senior Leadership Team, driving decisions on talent strategy, workforce planning, and org design.
- Lead difficult conversations with senior leaders on effectiveness, performance decisions, and org changes.
- Directly empower and develop 2 People Partners, setting a high bar and giving direct feedback.
- Synthesize People data (attrition, gPulse, absenteeism, ER patterns) into actionable reads for CXLT.
- Build lightweight, scalable People processes and playbooks, leveraging AI for repetitive or data-heavy tasks.
- Support core talent programs including performance cycles, calibration, promotions, and leader enablement.
- Serve as liaison between CX and broader People team (TA, Total Rewards, L&D, People Ops).
- Own end-to-end execution of org changes, including transition planning, communication, and Workday updates.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of HRBP or People Partner experience, with meaningful time supporting large operational or customer-facing organizations.
- Background at high-growth SaaS companies, ideally founder-led or recently public, supporting CS, CX, or customer-facing orgs preferred.
- Builder's instinct, shipping lightweight processes quickly.
- Ability to operate at every altitude, from frontline escalations to org design.
- Prior people management experience required.
- Track record of owning programs end-to-end.
- Strong operator mindset and bias toward action.
- Comfortable working with People data and translating it into clear stories.
- AI-forward mindset, actively using AI to improve work.
Compensation
Cash compensation for this role is between $158,300 - $195,237/year in Denver and between $185,955 - $229,345/year for New York/San Francisco. Final offers depend on location, experience, and expertise.
Location
Gusto has physical offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees based in those locations are expected to work from the office approximately 2-3 days per week. The same expectations apply to Symmetry roles in Scottsdale.
