Site Reliability Engineer II

As a Site Reliability Engineer II, you will ensure the reliability and performance of Instacart's platform. You'll monitor systems, respond to incidents, and develop automation to streamline operations. The SRE team integrates software and systems engineering to manage large-scale, distributed, and fault-tolerant systems, focusing on optimizing existing systems, building robust infrastructure, and automating processes.

• Participate in monitoring systems and responding to alerts, escalating issues as needed.
• Assist in incident management, following protocols and documenting steps.
• Maintain and improve documentation for processes and procedures.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of automation scripts and tools.
• Learn and apply best practices in site reliability engineering.
• Support deployment of applications and services, ensuring smooth releases.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot technical issues.

Minimum: 2-4 years of software engineering experience, understanding of programming concepts and scripting languages, strong interest in system administration and troubleshooting, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, strong sense of ownership on incident handling, ability to work in a team and communicate effectively, eagerness to learn and grow in SRE.

Preferred: Experience with Ruby or Go, familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), previous SRE experience.

Base pay ranges for US based candidates vary by location: CA, NY, CT, NJ: $160,000—$169,000; WA: $154,000—$162,500; OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI: $147,000—$155,000; All other states: $133,000—$140,500. Eligible for new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
