About the job
About the role
This is a growth role reporting into the Product org, not a traditional marketing role. You'll build Datadog's developer audience with a real voice and point of view, owning where and how Datadog shows up in developer communities.
What you'll do
- Own the voice, editorial standard, and publishing cadence for Datadog's developer channels (@datadogdevs on X, Datadog Developers on LinkedIn).
- Treat replies as a primary surface; expand into Reddit, YouTube, Discord, Bluesky, dev.to, Hacker News, and more, always openly as Datadog.
- Turn shipped engineering work into engaging content, including releases, changelogs, war stories, and postmortems.
- Build the attribution model connecting content to trials and signups.
- Run experiments with hypotheses and readouts, and kill things publicly when they don't work.
- Lead the developer content engine around events and get others posting, including Datadog engineers and external developers.
- Track developer sentiment about Datadog and competitors, and route it back to product and growth.
Who you are
- You've grown an audience from small to large and can point to outcomes your content moved.
- Strong writer with a distinctive voice; you know the difference between writing about an audience and writing for one.
- You have opinions about formats, platforms, and pacing, and adapt when algorithms demand it.
- You're comfortable with tools and automation, and prefer building workflows over repeating tasks.
- You distrust vanity metrics and your writing doesn't get scrolled past.
- Background is open; consumer, sports, entertainment, media, tech, engineering, growth, marketing, B2C, or unrelated.
- Preferred: short-form video you produced yourself, an existing audience, prior work with technical or enthusiast audiences, comfort on camera, and ideas for building with other teams.
