About the Role
As an engineer on the Developer Productivity - Async team, you will improve developer productivity by enhancing tools and systems for product engineers, focusing on asynchronous processing to ensure applications are efficient, reliable, and scalable. You will maintain and improve infrastructure supporting background jobs and async communication using Sidekiq and Karafka.
Responsibilities
- Identify and solve inefficiencies in tooling, APIs, and feedback mechanisms.
- Design, pitch, plan, measure, and implement solutions iteratively, utilizing AI tools for large-scale code migrations.
- Collaborate with product engineering colleagues to anticipate changes.
- Develop and maintain services, abstractions, and architecture.
- Advance the use of Kafka and Sidekiq for async processing.
- Harden async infrastructure for heavy loads, using LLMs to reduce incident resolution time.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software development experience.
- Systems thinker with strong communication skills.
- Comfortable with architectural thinking and delivering solutions through code.
- Deep experience with Ruby and Rails, including developer tooling.
- Experience with asynchronous processing using Sidekiq and/or Kafka.
- Proven track record of improving developer productivity through tooling, infrastructure, and AI.
Compensation
Cash compensation targeted at $220,000-250,000 for San Francisco & New York. Final offers vary by experience and expertise.
